Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 7, 2026
Your reflections are yours alone. Calibrate stores your content locally on your device. We never collect the text of anything you write, and we never sell or share personal data.
1. Who we are
Calibrate ("we," "our," or "us") is a personal reflection app developed by Calibrate Within. This policy describes how Calibrate handles information when you use the Calibrate mobile application (the "App").
2. What stays on your device
All of your content lives exclusively in local storage on your device and is never transmitted to us:
- SQLite database: your to-dos and intentions, habits and routines, focus sessions and reflections, notes, and weekly recaps.
- Local preferences: notification settings, onboarding status, your display name (if provided), and a subscription status cache.
No account is required, and we never collect your name, email address, location, contacts, photos, or files. If you delete the App, all locally stored data is permanently removed.
3. Usage analytics
We use PostHog, a third-party analytics service, to understand how the App is used (which screens are visited, which features are used, and where people get stuck) so we can improve it. These events describe actions, never content: we do not collect the text of your intentions, reflections, notes, or anything else you write. Analytics are tied to an anonymous identifier, not to your name or email (we don't have those). Analytics data is not used for advertising and is never sold.
4. Notifications & Live Activities
Calibrate may request permission for local notifications:
- Session nudges: quiet reminders during focus sessions to pause and reflect.
- Daily check-in reminders: optional, at a time you choose.
- Weekly reflection reminders: optional, on a day you choose.
A running session may also appear as a Live Activity on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. All notifications and Live Activity updates are generated and scheduled locally on your device. You can disable them at any time in the App or in your device's Settings.
5. Subscriptions & payments
Optional paid plans are offered through Apple's App Store. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple; we do not collect, process, or store your payment information. We use RevenueCat, a third-party service, to validate subscription status; this involves an anonymous identifier and purchase state only, never your content. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase; subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before renewal; refunds are handled by Apple under App Store policies.
6. Third-party services
The App's third-party services are limited to: Apple (App Store, StoreKit, notifications, Live Activities), RevenueCat (subscription validation), and PostHog (usage analytics, as described above). No advertising networks, no cross-app tracking, no data brokers.
7. Children's privacy
Calibrate does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App does not require an account and does not collect personal information from any user.
8. Data security
Because your content is stored locally, it is protected by your device's built-in security (passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and device encryption). We do not have access to your content and therefore cannot be a vector for a content breach.
9. Data retention & deletion
Your content persists on your device for as long as the App is installed. Deleting the App permanently removes all local data (routines, reflections, and preferences). Analytics events retained by PostHog are anonymous and cannot be linked back to you by us; contact us if you'd like them deleted anyway.
10. Your rights
Because your content never reaches our servers, the traditional data rights (access, correction, portability, erasure) are fulfilled by your direct control over the data on your device. You can view, modify, or delete your data at any time within the App.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
